Curtain pole and blind fitting

Curtains and blinds only look right when they are level, secure and measured properly. We fit poles, tracks and blinds as part of our [property maintenance](/services/property-maintenance) work.

Monday to Friday, 8am to 4pm

Fitted to the wall you actually have

The difference between a blind that stays up and one that ends up on the floor is the fixing. Solid walls, stud walls, lintels above windows and uPVC frames each need a different approach and different fixings, and we check what is behind the surface before drilling.

Heavy curtains on a long pole put real strain on the brackets, so the fixings are chosen for the load, not just the wall.

Curtain poles and tracks

Poles are fitted level and centred, with brackets spaced to carry the weight of the curtains without the pole bowing in the middle. Tracks suit bay windows and heavier drapes, and a corded track keeps long curtains easy to open. Bay window poles and tracks need careful measuring so the curtains follow the shape of the bay.

Height makes a difference to how the window looks. A pole fitted a little higher and wider than the frame lets the curtains clear the glass when open, which makes the window feel bigger and lets more light in.

  • Blinds cut or adjusted to width where suitable

Blind fitting

Roller, venetian and roman blinds are measured and fitted inside or outside the recess depending on the window and the look you want. Inside the recess gives a neat, fitted appearance; outside it blocks more light and suits windows with shallow reveals.

Where a blind needs trimming to width, that can be done as part of the fitting so it sits properly in the window.

Measuring is the part that causes most trouble when blinds are ordered online, since a recess that is out of square needs the blind made to the narrowest point. If you have not ordered yet, we can measure first so the blind that arrives is the blind that fits.

Several windows in one visit

Fitting is quick work once the measuring is done, so a whole house of poles and blinds is usually a single visit. It pairs naturally with other jobs on the list, from TV mounting to a room repaint.

Booking a fitting

Have your poles or blinds on site, or ask us to advise on what suits the window. Request a free quote or call 07735 852901.

If the fittings are going up as part of a wider refresh, such as a room being repainted or new flooring going down, let us know the order of work when you book, so the poles and blinds go up after the messy jobs rather than before them.

Common questions

+Can you fit a blind inside the window recess?

Yes, where the recess is deep enough. We measure the window first and advise whether an inside or outside fit will work better for that window.

+My walls are plasterboard. Will a curtain pole stay up?

Yes, with the right fixings. Heavy curtains need fixings into the studs or specialist plasterboard fixings rated for the load, which we choose based on the wall.

+Can you fit a track around a bay window?

Yes. Bay windows need a track or pole that follows the angles, measured carefully so the curtains run smoothly around the bends.

+Do you supply the blinds and poles?

We fit items you have bought, or we can advise on suitable types and supply them as part of the job. Either way, measuring comes first.
