Keep your home warm with small heating repairs
We help homeowners with small heating jobs such as replacing radiators, fitting new valves and bleeding systems so every room heats up properly.
If you are decorating, it is often the perfect time to replace a tired radiator or move one to a better position. We can handle both jobs together.
What we can help with
- Replacing radiators
- Fitting thermostatic radiator valves
- Bleeding radiators and balancing systems
- Taking radiators off for decorating and refitting
- Fixing leaking radiator valves
- Towel rails
- Boxing in heating pipework
How we work
Decorating-friendly
We take radiators off, decorate behind them and refit them in one go.
Small jobs
From a single valve to a few radiators.
Clean work
Floors protected and systems refilled carefully.
Radiators and decorating
Taking a radiator off the wall gives proper access to paint behind it, which is otherwise one of the hardest parts of a room to reach cleanly.
Once decorating is finished, the radiator is refitted and the system bled so each room heats up evenly again.
What to expect on the day
Taking a radiator off the wall means draining it first, so towels and sheeting are put down to catch any water before the brackets are undone.
Once a valve is replaced or a radiator is refitted, the whole system is bled and checked, so heat reaches every radiator evenly rather than leaving cold spots.
Where a radiator has been moved for decorating, pipework is reconnected carefully so the join does not leak once the heating is switched back on.
Signs a radiator or valve needs attention
A radiator that stays cold at the top while warm at the bottom usually has trapped air and needs bleeding, which is a quick job on its own.
A valve that drips, feels stiff to turn, or will not fully shut off is often worth replacing before it causes a bigger leak.
Cold patches lower down a radiator can point to a build-up of sludge inside, worth mentioning when you get in touch.
How heating work fits around decorating
Removing a radiator before painting gives access to the wall behind it, which is otherwise awkward to reach cleanly with a roller or brush.
Once the paint is dry, the radiator goes back on its brackets and the valve is reset, so the room is finished rather than left with a gap on the wall.
