About Micky's Property Services

Micky's Property Services is run by Michael (Micky) Down from 33 Swannells Walk in Chorleywood. The business is built around two ideas: one stop shop, one call fixes it all.

Rather than specialising in a single trade, the business covers carpentry, painting and decorating, electrical work, plumbing, heating and general property maintenance, so a homeowner with a mixed list of jobs does not need to find and coordinate several different tradespeople.

Carpentry and decorating sit at the centre of the work. Carpentry covers doors, skirting, shelving, storage and repairs, while painting and decorating covers interior and exterior work with an emphasis on proper preparation.

Micky is a qualified electrician and previously worked on fire alarm systems at Heathrow Airport.

Carpentry covers hanging and adjusting internal doors, fitting new skirting boards and architrave, building alcove shelving and cupboards, fitted wardrobes and under-stairs storage, loft hatches and loft ladders, boxing in pipes and meters, replacing door handles, locks and hinges, repairing stair treads, spindles and handrails, fitting window boards and sills, and small repairs to garden gates and fencing. Materials can be supplied as part of the job, or a customer's own materials can be fitted instead.

Painting and decorating covers walls and ceilings, gloss or satin finishes on doors, skirting and architrave, hallways, stairs and landings, bedrooms and living rooms, and kitchen or bathroom repaints using moisture-resistant paints where needed. Exterior woodwork, front doors, window frames and fascias are painted where they can be reached safely. The work also includes filling cracks and making good, stripping wallpaper and preparing a room before it is painted, painting new plaster, and preparing a home ahead of a sale or a rental. Furniture is moved and covered before work starts, and each room is left tidy at the end of the day.

The business travels up to about 35 miles from Chorleywood for the right job, and jobs of this scale, too much for a flat-pack fix but not large enough to need a full building team, are what the business is set up to handle.

The business focuses on small to medium domestic jobs for homeowners rather than large building projects, extensions or full rewires. That focus means jobs can be given proper attention and completed without the overhead of a much larger operation.

Jobs are carried out across Chorleywood and the surrounding area, covering towns in Hertfordshire, parts of north-west London, Buckinghamshire, Berkshire and Oxfordshire. The full list of towns covered is on the areas page.

Quotes are free, and most enquiries start with a homeowner describing the job, sometimes with photos, so the work can be priced before a visit is arranged. If you have a job in mind, the contact page has the details you need to get in touch.
