Clean, careful decorating for your home
A freshly decorated room changes how a home feels. We paint walls, ceilings and woodwork for homeowners who want a tidy, long-lasting finish without the stress of managing several trades.
Good decorating is mostly preparation. We protect your floors and furniture, fill and sand properly, and use quality paints suited to each surface. The result is a finish that looks good on day one and keeps looking good.
What we can help with
- Painting walls and ceilings
- Glossing or satin finishes on doors, skirting and architrave
- Hallways, stairs and landings
- Bedroom and living room refreshes
- Kitchen and bathroom repaints with moisture-resistant paints
- Exterior woodwork, front doors and window frames
- Filling cracks and making good
- Wallpaper stripping and preparation
- Painting new plaster
- Preparing a home for sale or rental
How we work
Protection first
Floors, furniture and fittings are covered before any work starts.
Preparation that lasts
Cracks filled, surfaces sanded and primed so the finish adheres and stays smooth.
Tidy every day
We clean up at the end of each day so you can still use your home.
Preparing a room properly
Before any paint goes on, floors and furniture are covered, cracks are filled and sanded back, and any flaking or loose paint is removed so the new coat has something solid to stick to.
Woodwork is rubbed down and, where needed, primed before undercoat and a top coat go on, which is what gives a gloss or satin finish its sharp, even look.
Outside your home
Weather takes its toll on front doors, window frames and fascias long before the rest of a house shows its age. Our exterior painting service covers woodwork that can be reached safely from ground level or a standard ladder.
Guides on decorating
New plaster needs the right treatment before it is painted, and our guide on painting new plaster explains why rushing this step leads to problems later.
If walls or ceilings are losing paint rather than just looking tired, the guide on paint peeling from walls and ceilings covers the likely causes.
Wondering what a typical decorating job involves and how price is worked out? The guide on the cost to paint a room walks through the main factors.
What to expect on the day
Before rollers and brushes come out, furniture is pulled into the centre of the room or taken out altogether, and everything left behind is covered with dust sheets.
Skirting, doors and windows are taped off where a different colour meets gloss or satin woodwork, so the lines stay crisp rather than smudged.
At the end of each day tools are cleaned and put away, sheets are folded back over furniture overnight, and the room is left tidy rather than mid job.
Getting a room ready before we arrive
Clearing small items such as ornaments, pictures and curtains off the walls beforehand speeds up the first morning, so more time is spent painting rather than moving belongings.
If a colour has already been chosen, having the tin or the name and reference to hand avoids a delay once preparation is finished and the room is ready for paint.
How decorating combines with other jobs
A room is often decorated once any carpentry such as new skirting or a boxed-in pipe has been fitted, so the woodwork can be caulked and painted as one finish rather than two separate jobs.
Sockets or a light fitting can be moved before decorating starts, and a radiator can be taken off the wall for access and refitted once the paint behind it has dried.

Painting and decorating: common questions
+Do I need to move my furniture?
It helps if small items and ornaments are moved, but we can move and cover larger furniture as part of the job.
+Can you help me choose colours?
We are happy to share what has worked well in similar homes, but the choice is always yours.
+Do you decorate outside?
Yes, we paint exterior woodwork such as front doors, window frames and fascias at a height that can be reached safely.
+Will you fill cracks before painting?
Yes, filling and sanding cracks and small holes is a standard part of preparing a surface before it is painted.
+Can you paint over wallpaper?
In most cases wallpaper is stripped first so the new paint sits on a smooth, even surface, but we can talk through the options for your room.
