What a proper installation involves
Installing a washing machine or dishwasher means more than pushing it into the gap. The transit bolts come out of a new machine, the water supply is connected with sound joints, the waste hose is hooked up so it cannot siphon or leak, and the appliance is levelled so it does not walk across the floor on spin.
Everything is then tested through a full cycle with the connections checked for weeps before we call it done.
Position matters as much as connection. A machine squeezed into a gap with no room to breathe vibrates against the units either side, and a waste hose stretched tight or kinked behind the appliance is a leak waiting to happen. We make sure there is sensible clearance and that the pipework runs without strain before the machine goes back.
Swapping an old appliance
When replacing an existing machine, the old one is disconnected and moved out, the supply valves and waste connection are checked while they are accessible, and the new appliance goes in. Worn hoses and stiff isolation valves are worth renewing at the same time, since they are cheap parts that cause expensive floods when they fail.
Integrated appliances behind cabinet doors need a little more care: the decor door has to be transferred or refitted and the appliance secured so it does not tip when the door is opened. That is all part of the job rather than an extra.
- Washing machines plumbed in, levelled and tested
- Dishwashers connected to supply and waste
- Old appliances disconnected and moved out
- Hoses and isolation valves checked or renewed
Installing where there was no appliance before
Putting a machine where none existed, such as a dishwasher beside the sink for the first time, means teeing into the water supply and waste. That is straightforward plumbing in most kitchens and utility rooms, and we can advise on the neatest route for the pipework.
Making good afterwards
Because the business covers several trades, any boxing in of new pipework, refitting of plinths or touching up of paintwork around the new appliance can be handled in the same visit rather than left for another day.
Booking an installation
Have the appliance on site or on its way, then request a free quote or call 07735 852901. For drips and cisterns elsewhere in the house, see our tap repair page.
If the new appliance is a different size from the old one, let us know when you book. A wider or taller machine sometimes means adjusting the gap, moving a filler panel or altering the worktop cut-out, and knowing in advance means the right tools come along.
